How To Beat Those 3 PM Blues The Natural Way!

How many times have you felt like you were just going to completely drop when it was only 3 o’clock in the afternoon?

3 PM is usually a very inconvenient time to find ourselves down on energy. Whether you still have 2 more hours of your work day, or your kiddos are walking in the door from school---we need to be able to be alert and enthusiastic during this time of the day!

Here are some VERY SIMPLE tips to help you get through that “3 PM Slump” and thrive for the rest of the day!


HEAD OUTSIDE

One of the best things that you can do to prevent the dreaded “3 PM Slump” is to get some good ole’ fashioned Vitamin D from the sun (or UV rays from the clouds). Whether it’s during our lunch or afternoon break, spending even a few minutes outside can help reset your circadian rhythm—which will keep your melatonin production at a minimum.

Plus, the added Vitamin D is great to prevent osteoporosis or some cancers.


CLEAR OFF YOUR DESK/CLEAR OUT YOUR EMAILS

This can feel so good! A clutter-free space can help energize you and make you feel good about your accomplishment (I mean, who doesn’t LOVE an empty inbox?).

And the best part? It doesn’t take a lot of brain power to complete this task! How nice is that?


HAVE A ROSEMARY PLANT

Did you know that the scent of rosemary was energizing? If you keep the plant on your desk, you’ll be able to pull off a sprig and roll it between your fingers whenever you’re feeling those 3 o’clock blues coming on. Take a whiff of that wonderful smell and—BOOM!—what an amazing (and all natural) boost for your day! Rub it on your head, neck, and shoulders for an added effect.


ENJOY A HIGH PROTEIN AFTERNOON SNACK

Not HIGH SUGAR—this will only give you a boost for a short amount of time before you crash hard! Try different combos of foods that are high in protein, fiber, and complex carbs (like whole-grain crackers, raw veggies, or a delicious protein shake).


This is my favorite tip (I saved the best for last!) because I really enjoy my daily 3 PM protein shake. It’s chocolaty, clean, and has tons of protein, fiber, and nutrients to keep me going for the rest of the day. Want more info? Let’s chat!
